Q: Is Remote Group Training follow-along classes?
A: No, the workouts in Remote Group Training are not follow-along. Instead, we provide short video tutorials of every exercise. After watching the tutorials, you complete the prescribed number of sets and reps at your own pace. We do have separate 5-week follow-along programs, though!
Q: Is Remote Group Training a yoga with added resistance program?
A: No, Remote Group Training is NOT yoga with added resistance. It’s a strength training program designed to supplement a yoga practice. However, membership in Remote Group Training does include full access to Jenni Rawlings’ online yoga class library! In addition, each training program also includes a short warm-up yoga flow.
Q: Is Remote Group Training a one-time or recurring payment?
A: We offer two membership options. You can pay on a recurring monthly basis or recurring yearly basis (and save 10%). You can cancel either plan any time.
Q: Can a person with no strength training experience do Remote Group Training?
A: Yes, Remote Group Training is appropriate for beginners. We provide all the background information you need to get started with strength training, along with exercise options to meet you at your current strength level. That said, we do assume competence with basic movement patterns that are common in yoga like Chair Pose, Plank Pose, and Halfway Lift.
Q: Do I need equipment to do the training program?
A: Yes, the training program requires one resistance band (a ½-inch superband) and two kettlebells or dumbbells. We recommend one lighter kettlebell/dumbbell that you can press overhead 10 times (10-20 lbs for women and 20-30 lbs for men) and one heavier kettlebell/dumbbell that you can’t press overhead (30-50 lbs for women and 50-70 lbs for men). The program also includes exercise options using other equipment you may have access to, such as yoga blocks, a yoga blanket or furniture sliders, a pull-up bar, a workout bench, and a barbell. But again, the only required implements are two kettlebells and a resistance band.
Q: Does the required equipment come with the membership to Remote Group Training?
A: No, the equipment does NOT come with the membership. It must be purchased separately.
Q: How many days per week is Remote Group Training? What’s the recommended training schedule?
A: You can choose a 2 day/week or 3 day/week program. It’s best to perform the training sessions on non-consecutive days (e.g. Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
Q: How long are the workouts?
A: The workouts are about one hour, give or take 15 minutes depending on rest periods and transitions between exercises.
Q: Can I still do yoga while I’m doing Remote Group Training?
A: Yes. Since Remote Group Training is only 2 or 3 days/week, that leaves several days open for other physical activities of your choice as well as rest days.
Q: Once I’m signed up, how will I access the training programs?
A: The monthly training program will be available on the Strength for Yoga member portal (through JenniRawlings.com) as well as through an interactive spreadsheet app (compatible with mobile) that enables you to track your progress. If you prefer hard copy, you’re welcome to print the spreadsheets.
Q: Does Remote Group Training include instructions for performing the exercises?
A: Yes, every exercise in the training program has an accompanying video tutorial. These video tutorials are accessible through the member portal (on JenniRawlings.com) and linked within the interactive spreadsheets.
Q: If I’m unsure about my exercise form, can I get help?
A: Yes. We have a section of the community forum dedicated to form feedback. All you have to do is upload a video of yourself performing the exercise, and we’ll make sure your form is safe and effective.
Q: When I join Remote Group Training, will I have access to the entire archive of training programs or just the current month?
A: Only the current month’s program will be available. However, the comprehensive exercise database will include access to all of the exercises in the archive (>400 videos!).
Q: How often will I get new workouts?
A: New training phases will start on the 1st of every month.
Q: Is this Remote Group Training only for women?
A: No, this program is suitable for people of all genders.
Q: What age group is Remote Group Training for?
A: This program is suitable for adults of all ages, with no upper limit. It’s never too late to build strength!
Q: If I’m not a yogi, can I still join Remote Group Training?
A: Yes, Remote Group Training is suitable for non-yogis, too. With that said, the exercises in the program are most specific to the movement demands of yoga.
